How do I unlock an iphone 5S so that it works with an international carrier?

I bought an iPhone 5s in the US but have a swiss carrier. How do I get the phone to work with my swiss carrier?

If you bought directly from Apple, and specified the unlocked version, you do nothing... If you got a Verizon variant, you do nothing... It's unlocked... If you bought any other variant, you need to have it unlocked via the carrier it's locked to.
