I turn it off when not using wifi. I've done this with all my phones.

Always on. I don't have time in my day usually to remember little things like that. If my battery gets low or I'm using it a lot I just plug it up to the car charger since I usually drive at least 100 miles a day

On most of the time. If I go on a long trip I'll turn it off. Bluetooth is off, except to Airdrop with wife. Usually long videos.

On except when I'm sleeping. I activate do not disturb on my phone and sleep like a baby at night.

Pretty sure there is little to no increased battery drain with wifi staying on with a modern iPhone. This isn't Android 2.3 we're talking about here (and believe me, I lived through those fun times personally).

I've noticed that location services and pinpointing are substantially improved with wifi turned on.

I do however leave 'ask to join networks' turned off. Therefore wifi only joins known networks, silently and seamlessly.
