Why am I having a hard time updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 7.1.2?

I'm updating it on iTunes but it's not working I think. It extracts the software and after a while it will say I should reconnect my phone again. What to do to update the OS? My iPhone is from London and I'm using it in the Philippines, what should I do?
