Love it so far! Any tips, tricks or anything I should know? Also how far can I receive calls, texts away from phone?

I see people saying they go for a run and leave phone behind. What all can I use it for when I do that? The gps tracker, but no text or call correct?

Correct. You will need your phone for phone or text. Only GPS and it works really well.
