Heat with a warm hairdryer and this makes it pliable. Then shape around phone as required.

I might have to try this. Have you had any problems with it since you did it?

none. if anything it is better than before as i moulded the plastic up slightly at the bottom which, when the iphone is in the case, it pushes it straight and covers the chrome fully.

Main point is not too hot and not too long as it will start to shrink/curl if you over do it.

How long did you heat the bottom?

around 20 seconds or so. try a short time and see how it reacts and if it needs longer try a little more. Better to keep trying little at a time than over do it and melt the case
