Disappearing emails

Hi everyone,
I am having trouble with my emails, they keep on disappearing.
Does anyone have any idea how to stop this happening.
I think I have the settings correct.

Check your settings at Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Show. This selection could be limiting things if you only have 25 recent messages set to show. Another possibility, which is my bet if you are using the exchange account for your email, is under Setting>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Accounts(select your email account)>Mails Days to Sync. If this is set at anything other than "No Limit" then your emails will drop off your phone after a certain number of days.

I have set the number of recent messages to 75 and I don't have anywhere near that amount & with your second suggestion I don't have that Setting that I can find "days to sync".
In fact the folders avaiable are different for each mail account.
Any other ideas,
