I'm just wondering, as the iPhone 5 may only have another 2 years with being supported for future updates, would this mean that the 5c will also only have 2 years? As they use the same A6 chip? Meaning the 5C will not be supported for as long as the 5S, even though they were released at the same time?.What do you think? Thanks.

2 more years for the 5c and the 5s I think. The 5s however could go 3years depending on how hungry resources that iOS11 will be.

I think we'll see 3 years out of it. I think it will probably be discontinued in September 2016 with the iPhone 5 (assuming the 4S will be discontinued September 2015).

That's assuming that Apple don't go all 64-bit on iOS like they did in OS X and decide to retire it earlier.

The iPhone 4 will have had 4+ years (released in Summer 2010) by the time iOS 8 is released. The iPhone 5 was released in fall 2012 so I would guess it will last until fall 2016. The 5C may only get three years though since it was released in 2013 but has the same internals as the 5.

The iPhone 4S might last until iOS 9 and the iPhone 5 and 5C might last until iOS 10. It all depends on what features are brought up in each update. :) But what you said is also a good point. It really just depends on the features that each update brings. :)
