iphone freezes

When I update itunes on my pc, then connect my iphone to it, it begins to update but then stops. I get the "pic" of the cord plug and the earth...(I noticed the same thing happened with my 3...)
It totally freezes my iphone. I was told that the update on my pc wasn't complete... infact sometimes it just "sits" there.... any ideas? I've waited hours for the update to load on my pc.... could it be anto virus software stopping the complete upload?

Your post is very confusing. What exactly are you referring to when you say "the update"?

yes please give us more info are you on Windows? are you updating the firmware of the phone? what version firmware is currently on the phone? what version are you trying to upgrade to? What phone do you have 3Gs or 4?

i have gone on to itunes and tried to update the software. It gets to about 99% loaded and then freezes, never completing the full update. If I connect my iphone to itunes via usb my phone freezes.

Id try using another computer to rule out anything with the phone.
