Is this my backlight not working or something else?

So a yearish ago my sister dropped her iPhone 6 and shattered pretty bad but it still worked fine. It had the front camera and all that stuff exposed up there with some cracks on the screen that didn't really effect the phone too bad. About 6 months ago she gave it to me and it has been working fine until the past couple weeks. It has been like doing this weird flickering visual glitch on the phone and I looked it up and someone told me to push up where the camera was and it worked and has been working for the past couple weeks until now where I can see a dim light on the screen but it won't show anything on the screen. Every once in a while it will let me screen and as long as I don't put my phone asleep it won't go dark again. Anyone know what's up?

A cracked screen will continue to get worse with use and eventually stop working all together. I'm surprised you got a year out of it
