Why do deleted emails keep returning?

I delete emails and then they come back to my inbox as unread . How do I permanently delete them ?

Go to your email account online and delete them there. That should do it. I've had that issue before.

Mine has been doing the same recently on two of my accounts seems like a sync issue

I've had this issue for a long time. If you do what Ledsteplin suggested it will fix the issue.
