Why wouldn' the update 8.1 would install on my 5s?

Update 8.1 would not install on 5s

I just started to download my update when an error popped up and said it could no longer install my up date. I did a hard reset (phone was locked up) and it had to restore as new! Anyone else having this problem?

Is it possible that Apple's servers are overloaded with people trying to update their devices? I updated successfully OTA earlier this afternoon without any problems, but updating my Apple TV took longer than usual this evening. Hopefully, the situation will clear itself for you soon.

I had no issues, but my 5s downloaded the update automatically. I assume you just had a disconnection issue or Apple's servers were over loaded.

Did you try again?

I'm sorry that happened. I updated this afternoon OTA without any problem. The servers might be slammed. Try it again. Good luck!

I was successful as soon as it was released. As the day goes on more people will find out the update is there and servers will be slammed. That was my thinking about why I did it then. It will clear up.
