why is my phone screen black?

My phone is turned on. I know this because I called it and it vibrated. My screen is totally black. I cannot get it to turn on. My phone is only a few months old.

Hold down the home and power button for 10 to 15 seconds until you see the Apple logo. If you don't see anything on your screen, then I'm afraid your screen is defective. If that's the case go to the nearest Apple Store or an Apple Certified Repair Service.
