Why does some of my email arrive as plain text rather than html?

some of my email arrives as plain text rather than html.

iMac was recently cleaned down to factory settings and restored. All is well except that some of my emails arrive as plain text. I appreciate your assistance.

HI there -

I would check with the sender -- they may have sent them that way. If you're getting both, it's working as it should, but there's a chance they were sent plain text.
