Why does my text list refresh to the top after I send a message?

When scrolling through my list of recent iMessages and Texts, after I send a message, it brings me back to the top of that list, to the most recently sent message. Is this a setting that can be changed, or just a bizarre design flaw? If I wanted to get back to the top of the list after scrolling, I would only have to click the top banner to return to the top. Any ideas?

I don't know, but I'm also not one to keep messages more than a day. When I want to chat with someone, I simply enter the first few letters of the person's name and then start typing my message.

That's the way all Native text fields that I've used work as well as most 3rd party messaging app
