what is the blue circle with enclosed rectangle in iBooks?

Some of my pfd's in ibooks has a small blue circle enclosing a small blue rectangle. I cannot open the documents when I push the button. What do I need to do to open the document

According to a post from the Apple Support Communities, re-synching with iTunes may fix the problem.
