Typo 2 Keyboard for iPhone 6 -- Design flaw?

Without the Typo, when I raise the iPhone 6 to my ear to make or take a call, the screen goes black; lower the phone and the screen is again visible and useable. WITH the Typo, the screen stays black when the phone is lowered and neither it nor the Typo keyboard can be used again until the whole device is powered down and back up. Can't end a call, work thru a phone menu, conference someone in etc. For me, this makes the iPhone virtually unuseable as ... a phone (except in speaker mode)! I assumed there must be a work around and submitted a question to Typo via the website but received no response. Any suggestions?

The typo itself is a design flaw
