I read an article once that basically said Apple won't track stolen iPhones or iPods because they can't prove why someone has the device. If someone buys an iPhone on eBay or craigslist how are they supposed to know if it's stolen. Further how would Apple ever know if the person in possession is the thief or someone who just happened to buy a used iPhone. This would be asking too much from Apple.
