Screen replacement on iPhone 5 is not working. Can you help me?

I replaced my cracked screen on my iPhone 5 but the screen will not light up.
I can hear the phone boot up but no display.
This my first attempt at replacing a screen so I am not sure if i did something wrong.
Can I check if the display is functioning correctly before I mate it back up with the main body?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not that I'm aware of, however, the iMore Blog has an excellent tutorial on replacing the iPhone 5's retina display screen. I recommend you check it out to see if you can detect where you may have erred. The link is below:

Thanks for your reply but I did follow that tutorial when i replaced my screen. Just seems odd that the screen will not light up and I even put the old cracked screen back on and it will not light up either. Does any one know if you can power up the Iphone 5 while it is disassembled but with the cables attached or are there sensors/actuators to prevent this? I am asking because it would be nice to see if the display is working before i put it back together.......
