No voice for route guidance with CarPlay?

I'm using an iPhone 6 with iOS 9 with my 2016 Cadillac CTS for CarPlay. Works great, except I'm not getting any voice guidance for routes. The music lowers as if guidance is coming, but Siri doesn't speak. I also have an Apple Watch and I'm wondering if this is the issue, as it automatically is also sending the routing to the watch.

Any ideas?

To test if your watch is getting in the way, if you disable bluetooth on your iPhone, do you get then get sound out the head unit?

I get turn notifications on my watch and still have audible alerts from the car. Are you sure you don't have the CarPlay volume all the way down? It has a different level setting than the radio volume and is adjusted while Siri is speaking.

Might not be that but I figured it was worth a shot. I know my watch doesn't get in the way though.
