My pokemon go once open is blank

I am new with the game, when I open it only the character is in the screen.

Try force quitting the app. Double tap the home button (round button at the bottom) and clear the app from there. Should be a swipe up if you're on a recent iOS version.

Try what Robertk328 said but if that does not work just delete the app and re-download it
