I have a Mac running Somoma and running Safari 17.2. I have an issue with Safari. Typically, I have two tabs open and will open a new tab to search something up.

When I open a NEW tab and go to a site, the tab will open then immediately close and I wait... for a minute then the tab will open. This behavior is all the time regardless of the site. Even if I click on a link that opens a new tab, the same behavior occurs.

I have restarted the Mac and cleared the cache. That doesn't help or resolve the problem.

Last week, I updated my Mac and I still have the same Safari issue. I am running Sonoma 14.2 and Safari 17.2 (19617.1.17.11.5).

I have a MBA running Ventura 13.5.2 and Safari 16.6 and I don't have this problem on my laptop. There has to be a bug in Safari 17.2.

I am not having this issue with 14.1.2/17.1.2, so I suspect it's something on your machine.

One way to test something: create a new user account on the problematic machine and log in with that new account, Try to see if you see the same behavior in the new user account. If you don't, then it's something strange on your account rather than on the machine itself.

I have tested on my Mac with the current version of macOS, 14.1.2 (Safari 17.1.2), and I couldn’t reproduce the behaviour.

You might want to submit feedback to Apple using the Feedback Assistant app that’s installed on your Mac.

macOS 14.2 (Safari 17.2) being, as of posting, prerelease software.
