My iPhone 4s won't charge past 3% and if I unplug it it shuts down how do I fix

Already hard reset it, dies when plugged into usb the computer does not charge it and there is an update but I can't download it because it shuts down every about five minutes

Have you tried a different cable? Have you tried charging it with a charger plugged into an outlet? Leave it plugged in for several hours and then check to see if the battery has fully charged. If these suggestions don't work then your battery may need to be replaced.

The 4s is an old phone now. You probably need a new battery.
