MacBook TouchID disabled with USB-C Hub

I have a 2020 MacBook Air running Big Sur 11.6. When I have a USB-C hub plugged in, TouchID does not work for logging in or filling in passwords. I've tried several different non-Apple hubs with the same result. Is there a setting I'm missing or is this a known limitation for using hubs?

I would contact Apple Support about this. I don't have a Mac, but I've been doing some reading on this issue, and it seems that there are known issues with earlier versions of Big Sur.

I wish I had a solution to share with you. Hopefully, someone else will come along and possibly have an idea for you.
