Keyboard question

This is a question for the stock ios8 keyboard. With the new keyboard, there are predictive words on top of the text input field, and they have been there even before you start typing.

Well just now, I typed a longer email, and the spaces containing those words disappeared....as in the pictures I provided.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is it normal? I mean, I don't mind it not being there, but found it a bit odd. Even when closing out the messaging app and reopening, it still doesn't come back. My keyboard is like it was prior to ios8, with the darker line and white line inside of it present.

Tap and hold on that white line on the top of the keyboard and pull your finger up. It will come back.

Robby, I just figured that out!

I tried a few times prior to posting, but nothing happened. I guess you have to hit that line pretty precisely!

And then swiping down on the predictive words hides them. This is good to know, and I guess something I miseed!
