itunes unwanted auto app update

how do you stop itunes from auto updating apps like pandora when you sync?

1. Go to Settings-iTunes & App Store.
2. Scroll down to the "Automatic Downloads" section.
3. To the right of "Updates", move the lever to not display any green color (Disabled).

i assume your talking about the settings on the ipod itself.....all i have in there is a choice called store, and is no option like that in there

ios 4.2....ipod touch 3rd gen,.........updating to 5.1.1 tho
