itunes connection

Good evening,
I have recently been having issues with my iphone 5c, i havent updated it to the latest software yet. I carried out a reset and now i cannot connect to my itunes account? It asks me to set as a new phone or restore from a back up point,, Has anyone encountered this before?

I don't ever remember experiencing that after a reset. Have you got a recent backup?
