The iTunes 11.1.1 update fixes a few issue with the latest iTunes release:

app store and iTunes wouldn't pick up the update, FYI if anyone else's won't

It does, indeed, resolve the issue with iTunes downloading and/or listing all episodes of all podcasts in the podcast tab.

Hmmmm I am confused as you guys say it has solved your issues. For me the previous version was issue free. Now I can't sync with iPhone 5 (most recent update) wirelessly. It backed up, but when I try to sync or try to go to any other tab such as App tab it crashes. Now I'm afraid to update my macbook pro.

Well appears I got it fixed. Thought I would try to completely uninstall iTunes and then reinstall. This appears to have worked and now from what I can tell so far, all my issues have disappeared....yay!
