I wouldn’t recommend servicing or replacing certain parts of an Apple product without sending it to Apple.

A device with a bad IMEI typically means the device was stolen. It is my understanding that the TouchID mechanism is paired to the every device’s chipset and therefore attempts to switch out this or that will cause TouchID to not function properly even though the home button itself may work.

Just use the phone as a WIFI device and use Magic Jack.
