iPod Touch 4th gen.

Hi! =)

I just got my mom one for her birthday but she cannot download anything from the store (be it Google Chrome or Facebook). It keeps saying the software has to be iOS 7 or later.
She is on 6.1.6. When I go to "Software Update", it says the device is up to date.
Is there a way to "fix" that?

So nothing can be downloaded on it, since they all seem to at least require iOS 7..

Well, it is a 5 year old device. Maybe see if you can trade it in and get a 6th Gen iPod Touch.

Well, since the iPhone 4S will have iOS 9, I thought the iPod 4 would at least have iOS 7..

The 4S has the Dual Core A5 like the Touch 5.
I just got a Touch 6 last week. Very fast and smooth.

Yeah, seeing as the iPhone 4 with the same A4 processor got iOS 7, I was surprised to see that my iPod Touch 4 wouldn't get it. The reasoning was because the iPod 4 has less RAM and a slower clocked CPU than the iPhone 4.
