Iphone 4S hard reset done and now two dates and time appear at top of screen

iMore Question

I had to do a hard reset as nothing would download on my iphone 4S - the reset worked and no issues with downloading. Problem is now at the top of my screen is an old date and time and today's date is time. I suspect the old date is when I purchased the phone but how to make that display go away?

Go to Settings>General>Date & Time and then turn OFF "Set Automatically" so that you can manually set the date and time. Afterwards, turn ON "Set Automatically", if you want to.

Also try rebooting normally now that the phone is acting normal. The screen just may need to refresh.

I recently had exactly the same problem, but stumbled across the solution. Firstly, is your wallpaper a photo from within your camera roll? Mine was, and I took another look at it, to find that it had been "overwritten" with some spurious date and time.

Choose your photo from your camera roll and enter "Edit".

Crop the photograph to remove the offending info. Re-save it, and restore it as your wallpaper.

I have no idea how my photo became corrupted, but the problem's now gone away.

Good luck.
