I figured I would start a thread on the iPhone 16 since it’s that time of the year again when apple is going to release their new phone.

I am always excited when a new product comes out, but being retired and on a fixed income, I just don’t run out and get the new one when it’s introduced.

Now everything has to be valued added and my iPhone 15 Pro is working perfectly as it should with zero issues. I don’t have an Apple Store here in my town in central Florida, but they do have one in Orlando and Jacksonville where my sister lives.

So once the new phone becomes available and all the early hype and I have to have it now buyers are done, I will drive down and have a look at it and decide if the upgrade is going to be worth it.

As I said in the old days, I would have just bought the new device and not even given a second thought to it, but retirement has changed that. I still excited to see what the new iPhone 16 will offer.

I do plan on getting one of the new iPhone Pro models, but I doubt I’ll pre-order and I know I’m not standing in a long line at an Apple Store. I’ll do what I’ve done for years - locate the one I want, buy it via the Apple Store app, schedule pickup day and time and then go and get it.

As for you being in Central Florida, you have three Apple Stores to choose from:

The Mall at Millennia
The Florida Mall
The Altamonte Mall

Don’t forget about Best Buy stores and cellular carrier stores.

I’m staying put with my 14 Pro Max aka Purple Reign as she’s doing everything that I need at the moment. I like to get a few years of enjoyment out my devices before I pay cash again. The freedom of a no contract phone lets me stay in control of when I pull the trigger. Maybe the iPhone 17 will get me excited. My best to all of you iPhone 16 upgraders. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info, I will probably go to the Apple Store in Jacksonville and look at it a couple of weeks after it’s released and all the early adopters have purchased theirs.

Oh heck no! I’d go insane…(laughing)
I don’t feel like it’s worth paying close to $2000 (current pricing on the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB) every 3 years for a new phone.

And my iPhone 11 Pro worked mostly fine when I retired it in December 2023. Only the odd app (like Safari) was slow.

I hear you. $2000 is a lot of money and I, too, would be hesitant to often pay that amount every year or every other year. It adds up for sure.

My 11 Pro is beginning to show its age so I am looking to upgrade to the 16 Pro Max this year, I’ll probably wait until the rush dies down before pulling the trigger.

No iPhone for me this year, went from a 13 Pro to a 15 Pro Max last year. Normally this year would be Watch time, but I feel like my 1st gen Ultra is still doing great both in battery and performance/features. This year is upgrading my 4ish year old 4th gen iPad Air to probably a 512GB 11" iPad Pro. I really want FaceID, the Air will go to mother in law who desperately needs an iPad upgrade (doesn't work unless it's plugged in) and the Pro will give me some more power for using Lightroom/etc on the go and easier editing of my iCloud photos vs transfering them to Lightroom on my PC.

It was a pretty underwhelming launch, I was waiting for a new watch ultra, not worth upgrading my 1st gen ultra and no update to airpods pro either!

I will end up getting a 16 pro max as it will be a big step from my 11 pro.

It’s all about the AI this year man.

Disappointed tbh.

Yeah, the event barely kept my focus. As you’ve stated, the focus was primarily on AI and its capabilities. I’m not interested in a new Watch or another pair of AirPod Pro earbuds, but I am interested in a new iPhone. Like you, I’ll more than likely go with the iPhone Pro Max this time around. I’ll decide for certain some time before Friday.

Yep, thankfully the 15 pro max will do nearly all of the AI stuff so I'm covered there. LOL on the airpods pro I finally updated from the 1st to the 2nd gen w/ USB C a few months ago when I realized my 1st gen had the noise cancellation/static bug that appeared after an update and I never noticed because I hadn't used them very much since the pandemic started and they were outside Apple's free replacement window for the bug. I wasn't expecting to see new Pro models though since there was a pretty big gap between the first and current gen.
