If I'm almost out of storage will buying more iCloud space help or not

i have an iphone6 16gb as I just couldn't afford a bigger phone. I have no problem paying for more iCloud space if it will help. I still haven't downloaded ios8 I'm sure I don't have enough storage. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

More iCloud storage will not do anything for running out of space on your device.

iCloud storage will only affect how much storage space in the cloud you have for backups and other information that lives in iCloud. Sadly it will not affect the storage space that you have on your iPhone.

Buy more iCloud space is one solution, but you need to backup your stuff to iCloud everytime when your phone is out of space.

As previous posters mentioned, increasing iCloud space will not increase available storage on your device. Backing up creates a replica of what is currently on your device but doesn't remove anything from it.
