how do I undo iOS 8.0.1 update and revert back to the previous version

Did the new update, phone doesn't work now. Is there a step by step to revert back.

Welcome to iMore! As phreddyl stated, you can't go back to iOS 8 because Apple is no longer signing it. What you can do at this point is try to get your phone to work better with iOS 9. Your best bet is to restore your device through iTunes and I recommend setting it up as a new device. While this is considerably more work than simply restoring from a backup, it will ensure that your iPhone is operating as efficiently as possible.
