A little late and I know the iPhone 16 should be releasing soon but the only reason why I am doing this upgrade is because a couple month back, the front facing camera decide to stop working. All apple was able to say when they did a diagnostic is that the camera just stop responding. Weird.

On the plus side. Now I’m just waiting for the iPhone 15 pro max to get shipped. Excited but not to excited cause I feel it’s not much different from a 14 pro max. Anyone else upgraded from 14 to 15? How’s everyone liking the iPhone 15?

I went from the 11 Pro to the 15 Pro Max.

The battery life is pretty much the same between the two of them. But I find the 15 Pro Max software to be less stable; I constantly get crashes from Apple’s Now Playing CarPlay app, and I need to really reboot the device every other week.

But it’s not a big deal breaker.

Edit: I forgot. It doesn’t deal well with high ambient temperatures (>25°C). It will simply not charge and it will throttle because it’s too hot for the iPhone.

Personally, I would wait a month and either get the larger screen iPhone 16 pro max or the 15 pro max for free from a carrier discount.

yeah I get that also. but then I remember when not pre ordering the 14 pro max when it first released and I had to wait about 2.5 months while they were on back order. only making this upgrade just so I have a front facing camera that works again.

Quite true.

Congratulations and enjoy your new device.

I haven't seen other 15 Pro Max users complain about those issues. Maybe you just got a lemon.

I think iOS 17.6.0 has fixed the “Now Playing” app, but I do need to observe it some more.

As for the reboot requirement, I’m suspecting the modem firmware; also needs observation because it didn’t happen with iOS 17.6.0. I did notice that it sometimes falls back to 3G on calls rather than using VoLTE (non-issue currently, just an observation), when in a 3G/4G/5G/5G+ coverage area. Let’s not forget that iPhone 15 Pro Mac models are different between countries because of mobile band and nanoSIM support.

These two are software issues that Apple can definitely fix remotely. The one below, I don’t think they can without a recall, which I don’t expect to happen.

On it handling poorly in high temperatures, it’s a documented situation for iPhone 15 Pro series devices: https://www.techradar.com/phones/so...mployees-reportedly-say-its-expected-behavior
There was a fix in the early iOS 17.0 days, but my phone never had that version of iOS. And overheating happened even today at 27°. The iPhone 11 Pro needed around 30° to get into the same situation. It could be caused by differences in materials used, but I have no way to even look into it.

At least it pulls power from the external power source, so it does not discharge. It simply will not charge. Even when only streaming audio with the screen off, it will simply mention an overheat. Like I said, not a big issue for me.
