Durability of the lightning cable. How's yours?

I have not had one of my original cables go bad, but my daughter's just went bad the other day, after less than a year - actually it's possible that was my original cord from Jan 2013 (I gave her my phone and upgraded to a 32gb model, and probably gave her the cord too). When I plugged it into my laptop to check it, Windows immediately popped up a message that the USB port was not working. I hope the computer just shut down to protect it, and it didn't just fry.

Have had one just stop working .. All others are still ok .. I need to take it in just haven't had time
