Debating on switching Samsung s5 to iPhone 5s

Switching fianc?e from a s3 that eats batteries to a 5. Thinking a out getting a 5s myself since I dint use all the stuff on my Samsung s5. Is it worth a $250ish for a refurb 5s? Or wait until new are released?

Had a 4s back when they first released for 2 weeks, coming from a phone that had a actual keyboard then I didn't like it....

Jokes aside, a refurb is in most cases better than a new one, because they are extensively tested on errors whereas new ones are only tested incidentally.

Just go for it, and stop worrying about the what ifs.

I found my self more relaxed once I stopped second guessing all my decisions

iOS 9 will also be available for the 5, so you're good for at least another 14 months with the 5

Try one out and see if it works out for you. Each device has pros and cons.

iPhone turn it on, set it up and not have to worry about it.

A Verizon 5, 5C or 5S will work on any GSM carrier. That is, it's unlocked for GSM. On CDMA it will only work on Verizon. But this is part of an agreement between Verizon and the FCC that allowed Verizon to buy additional frequency bands.


In Theory a CDMA phone will work on either CDMA carrier in the US. However, neither Verizon nor Sprint will activate a phone not purchased for their network.


An AT&T LOCKED phone (subsidized) will work only on AT&T.


A T-Mobile LOCKED phone (subsidized or not) will work only on T-Moblle unless T-Mobile unlocks it.


A T-Mobile UNLOCKED phone purchased from Apple will work on any GSM network in the world.


A Sprint CDMA phone will work only on Sprint unless Sprint unlocks it.


An UNLOCKED phone purchased directly from Apple at full price will work on any GSM network in the world. In theory it can work on CDMA networks also, but only if the carrier supports BYOD.


No iPhone 5x will work on LTE bands in all countries, however, as there is no model that supports all LTE bands and different countries are assigned different bands.

The iPhone 5S's for AT&T and T-Mobile have not been whitelisted into Verizon's ESN and or MEID database. You can pop in a SIM and get LTE, but you won't be able to make a phone call, since the iPhone 5S can not do VoLTE, and would need to use 1xrtt for making cell phone calls. This also depends on that the iPhone 5S's CDMA 2000 radio is even enabled, so as to even do 1xrtt. The CDMA 2000 radio chipset is enabled on all US iPhones 6 and 6+ and should be properly whitelisted into Verizon's database.
