One way you can is if you own another Apple Product, like an iPad or Mac or iPod Touch and you set up iMessage an or Text Message Forwarding on those devices, it still keeps a copy of the messages. So even if you accidentally deleted or lost important SMS or iMessages, they can still be on those other devices, worth a look!
