Can I disable the silent switch on side of iphone 3G??

Hi there, I have just bought an iphone and know bugger all about them.
Its pretty awesome, but i wear it on my belt in a case at work and find the silent switch a real pain as it alway clicks to silent when i put it in or take it out of case.
Is there anyway u can go into the phones programming and dissable it??
Otherwise ill just put some blue tack or something in there??

the only way to disable it is to remove it

You can jailbreak and download Auto Silent off Cydia. It disable the sound without the need to move the silent switch.

there are a few cases being sold that I guess by bad design the case covers up the silent switch... Anyways this may work for you

Check out the contour cases , they do a pretty good job of protecting the switch .
