Black screen after wake up from sleep

I have an early 2011 13" MacBook Pro, with 500g SSD and 16gigs ram. Recently it has become slow when waking from sleep, sometimes i have to use the power button to restore. Also on occasion I recieve a black screen, with only the cursor visible, but I can move the cursor.

Have you tried running around in circles while screaming?

yes but it only gets strange looks from the customers in starbucks
