AirTags Firmware is getting an update

It will be interesting to see when this actually happens! According to an article, I just read on Apple Insider, Apple is slowly rolling out a firmware update for AirTags. The new build numbers is 1A301. Apparently, all AirTags should receive the update by May 13, 2022.

Neither of mine have gotten the update either. According to the article (link included in my original post) I read, this is the supposed release schedule:

“The update will also gradually roll out to all Airtags, with approximately 1% receiving it on Thursday, followed by 10% on May 3, and 25% by May 9. According to @applesWUpdates on Twitter, all AirTags are expected to get the new firmware by May 13.”

No update for my AirTags yet. However, Apple has released information about what's included in the update- "Tuning the unwanted tracking sound to more easily locate an unknown AirTag."

So do we have to keep our AirTags really close or in Bluetooth range.

I’m confused

To bad it wasn’t as simple as say hit the “Play Sound” button while your AirTag was side by side with your device

I think so! I did plug in my iPhone and the AirTag on my keys just updated!
