Re: Paid apps on Cydia. I just upgraded my iPhone. does anyone know the policy and procedure for re-installing paid Cydia apps on a new phone? I've sent an inquiry to Saurik, but it is a holiday weekend. has anyone else had this experience already?
I just bought the iPhone 3G S, I had to rebuy the things I purchased before. It said it didn't recognize the phone, I guess maybe cause different serial number. I think if you use one of the back up apps then resync you don't have to rebuy. From what I read in this forum though you are better to start out fresh not from back up.
The entire purpose of AppBackup is to inventory and back up one's jailbroken apps so as to avoid the process of reinstalling them all. So...there needs to be a way to install on a new phone. Most software licenses allow one to remove an application from one device and reinstall it on another. I hope that this is the case here. Otherwise, the money spent, all be it not a lot, was wasted.
Got my answer...one need not pay again!
Follow these steps on the new phone:
1. Jailbreak it
2. Download PkgBackup again, using the same credentials when u bought it
3. Sync w/ iTunes so u can get back u addressbook (where the backup is stored)
4. Launch Pkgbackup
5. Hit Restore
