jailbreak..yes or no?

hi I m new to iphone. I am planing to use iphone with other carrier, do I need to jail break the iphone? if yes, what is the best software to break it?

You need to both Jailbreak and Unlock the phone.

Which software you can use depends on your model of phone.

Also depends on what type of machine you're running:

If you're running iPhone 3g on Mac, i'd recommend Pwnage still. It hasn't given me a single problem.

Otherwise all of the guides above gave would be the best place to start.
