3D Touch on iPhone Xs Models

Has Apple killed off 3D Touch? I can't find any specific information for the new Xs models, I know its a different system on the Xr model. I've been a fan of it since it first came out, it would be a shame if all that useful functionality has been done away with.

XR doesn't get it, XS does. Indications are it won't be here for long and likely will be gone in 2 years, perhaps next redesign or another way to offset cost of another component when they ditch it. I hardly use it, wouldn't miss it.

They spent years developing it and it never took off, now they will kill it and act like it wasn't a big deal, lots of money wasted that could have gone into bigger or better battery tech.

3D Touch has not been removed, it’s clearly listed on the specs for the new phone.

I didn't say it was removed, I said they are clearly killing it off, it has not been a really differentiator and no one really uses it. In the past all models got the 3D Touch, this year only the XS/XS Max have it but the XR does not have it so they did remove it from one of this years models.

Was removed from the LCD due to the way they’re now layering the glass to get the wider screen. They still are using a long hold instead of pressure. I don’t think they will be killing it off on the OLED screens next year. I think it’s used often by many people. I use it daily.

The real question is, will they add the new haptic option from the XR to older iPhones that don’t have 3D Touch ? Is that even possible with software updates?

I'll be interested to see what happens. Allegedly we'll see a redesign of the UI, it was allegedly supposed to be this year but they put it off a year to focus on stability. So I'm guessing they have something in mind, that basically they had an idea they'd replace 3D touch -- the question for me is what, if anything, do they replace it with.
