I recently found this post at i-phone-home.net:
Firewall for jailbroken devices
Firewall for jailbroken devices
I would like to give you all a sneak-peek at the first firewall for Apple's iPhone. This great app functions in a very similar manner to common desktop firewall's which you may have already used.
Firewall is broken into two parts, the first part is a mobilesubstrate component, this handles all the low level functions such as in-application firewall changes, network traffic management, etc.
When using a network-enabled application a prompt will be displayed giving you control over what hosts the application can connect to. As you can see the options are self explanatory:
- Allow once
- Deny once
- Always allow!
- Always deny!
- Allow all for this App
- Deny all for this App
A prompt will be display for each host, so the "Allow all" & "Deny all" options make it much easier if you are sure the iPhone app is well behaved.
This mechanism seems to work well...
