how do I reset my password with my phone locked?

I have a password and a fingerprint. I have to put in the password on occasion when my fingerprint does not work. I have forgotten my password because I just had to change it.

Hi Debra! Why did you have to change your passcode? Regardless, unless you remember the passcode, there's not much you can do that's simple. It's a security feature to keep thieves from stealing the phones. Here's some help from Apple on how to fix your problem. You will need to remember your Apple ID.
