Going today to apple for a check up on why that rattling is happening. It's annoying and can't take it anymore. Hopefully a positive outcome.

Good luck, there are ones out there that do not do it.

Thanks Jeremy. Well back from store. All the display models have that rattle and the replacement he was going to give me as well. He advised that they opened it and noticed nothing loose and advised it was the vibrating motor that makes that sound because its designed to be a free floating. He also advised the tech in back said he had a few cust with same issue and said its the design and not to worry.

If this is happening on multi units. I have to say I agree and believe its normal. Like you said there might be a few that don't.

i've had mine since launch day and ahve always noticed a slight rattle when shaking it or setting the phone down. i have a case on the phone so dont notice it that much but i took the case off just to look at the phone today and notice that my power button is a bit loose and causes a rattling noise when i shake it and if i put my finger on it and shake it doesn't rattle as much or barely at all. I have apple care+ is this normal or should i take it to get exchanged?

That's not the rattle this thread is discussing but you could take it back if you'd like but I wouldn't wait past the 14 days since purchase. Depends on how much you are willing to put up with.

Got mine on launch day as well, Slate 16GB.. .Love the phone, but noticed right away the rattle. Was actually while I was on the phone, and got a text message. (vibrated). sounded like there was a loose piece in the phone, which kind of tripped me out. The rattle then became very apparent, and constant now. Every time I place the phone down, or even put it up to my ear too fast to answer a call, I hear it. Driving me nuts. I have an apt with a Genius this Saturday, and hope to get a phone without any rattle...

Went to see genius yesterday. She confirmed it is the image stabilizer in the camera lens, and nothing to worry about but also allowed me to open 2 other phone boxes and gave me the option to choose. Ended up with my original ip5 as the two boxes I opened had even worse rattles! She said some may not rattle at first but that is just temporary as it will loosen.
Oh we'll, guess I can live with it. ;-)

My iphone5 doesnt rattle, but when my wife got hers something was definately loose inside... I squeezed at the middle top thirds front to back, and it has not rattled since... pretty sure the battery adhesive came loose, and required it to be repressed...

I've decided there will be winning. The power button loosened up even more. Would it be acceptable if a car door wiggle an wasn't installed correctly. I think not
