Question about battery/signal/wifi

I have no signal at my house, I run off wifi. Is there a way to turn off the 3G signal is its not searching for one? My battery seems to drain quickly at home

Settings>Airplane mode will shut it off and it's easy to switch back on/off.

You can do airplane mode and then just turn on the wifi toggle... That should get what you're looking for

Was not aware that this was an option on my iphone, though I never tried it either. I just assumed airplane mode killed all wireless signals. Might come in handy as I'm in the same situation as the OP.

Dumb question of the day: when making calls via WiFi instead of cell network (as described above), are the minutes "counted"?

They count in a way, they don't in another.
