hey i just got iphone 4 and its 4.3 os and there is no untethered jailbreak for 4.3 so how do i update to 4.3.1 because itunes only wants me to update to 4.3.3

Why not just update to 4.3.3., which is untethered? Just use iTunes to update to 4.3.3 and use redsn0w to jailbreak.

Well I'm usin the iPhone 4 as just an iPod cuz it's locked so I thought staying lower os will increase my chances of being able to unlock it in the future if there is one at all

Check your Settings>General>About for modem firmware (aka baseband). The only one that's unlockable for the iP4 is 1.59.00. If it's anything else, it doesn't matter what firmware you update to...and even if it IS 1.59.00 you can still update to 4.3.3 and keep that baseband if you use the right tools. Check it out and let me know what you have.

It's 4.10.01 I know it's not able to be unlocked but if in the future they do manage it will it work for all basebands or just certain ones

Well, there's really no way to tell, but if you update to 4.3.3 the baseband will still be the same as what you have now anyway. (I just did this myself a couple of weeks ago.) Basebands don't get updated every time iOS gets an update, so 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, and 4.3.3 all have the same baseband.

So you have no reason NOT to update, really.

Ah thanks I will update can I use the same program and steps that I took to jailbreak my 4.3.3 iPod touch 4g. All I remember was the file was like rc16 or something like that I'd have to check when I'm home.

Like Massie said you could have still updated to 4.3.3 and kept your baseband if there had been a baseband change for example. You use either Pwnage Tool(Mac) or Sn0wbreeze(Windows). So really the only thing that matters is what level of firmware those two tools JB. You can find PwnageTool with info at iClarified - Apple News and Tutorials go to Tutorials, iPhone, Jailbreak. You can find Sn0wbreeze by searching for iPhoneHeat.com. I have another question why not sell the iPhone 4 you have and buy an unlocked one on the web the cost should cancel out just a thought.

hey well i called rogers and the iphone 4 is rogers. In canada it is legal to unlock phones but they charge $50 the only problem is now i need to find someone who has a rogers account or they wont do it for me. so im gonna have to ask a friend for all their personal account info and pretend to be them.
