So, I have a question for you, my fellow Tibpers. I have an iphone 3g still under applecare. Right now I'm started to experience the failure of my home button, even after all the fixes, etc. Now I know that applecare covers this, but what I need to know is this: Seeing as my iphone is no longer in active production, if they need to replace my unit, what will they replace it with? A new 3gs? Or a refurb?

So one of two things will happen:

-first and most likely outcome, they will just replace your screen on your existing phone, giving you a new home button.

- second, if they have to replace your phone, it is always like for like. So if you have a 3G, you get a 3G. And since the 3G is no longer in production, yes, it will be refurbished.

Hope that helps.

Well, it did help. I did no know that that home button was built into the screen, which is nice to know. And I'll just have to hope they don't have any like models on hand.
