iPad running really slow

I bought a book to try and figure out what to do to fix my iPad. it has been running really slow. Takes a while to load suff, all I got was referred to this website! Any clues? I cleaned out cookies, went back to original settings, nothing has helped.

Hold the power button down and the home button down, do not let go until you see the apple logo. Good Luck
